Radical Forgiveness

Forgiveness

One of the most pivotal events of my life was reading A Radical Incarnation by Colin Tipping.  The book is a spiritual analogy that complements his how-to book Radical Forgiveness.  In both books, Colin presents revolutionary views toward negative events and forgiveness.  These views changed my life by drastically altering the way I look at my experiences and relationships.  My gratitude for this man is unbounded.

What I learned from his books is this:

Every negative event in my (and your) life has a spiritual purpose and provides an opportunity for my (your) growth; in fact, our souls make pacts to create growth opportunities.

Therefore, traditional ideas of forgiveness are obsolete because those who cause us pain are simply providing us the opportunities we need to work through our issues.  (This does not mean we should allow others to harm us!)  In fact, forgiveness becomes silently thanking others for playing their roles in helping us rise in consciousness.

Now that’s radical.

As Colin states in the interview below:   Things don’t happen to us.  They happen for us.

He stresses that it isn’t necessary to believe in this radical principle – all that matters is that you open your mind enough to look at events as opportunities.  If you can do that, you will see the power in this perspective, whether or not it is true.

My words cannot compare to Colin’s, so I hope you will listen to this interview.  Please know that I wouldn’t suggest you listen to such a long piece if I didn’t believe it has life-changing power, not only for you but for everyone you come in contact with.  Because there is no video, perhaps you can turn up the volume and tend to other things as you listen (I’m good with forgiveness, but have miles to go with mindfulness…).
